Mrs. Eva Gibson Smedberg, Head of development cooperation at the Embassy of Sweden in BiH, signed a grant agreement with the Resource Environmental Center (REC BiH) for a new project to strengthen civil society organizations in the field of environmental protection in BiH.
The project FUTURE – Developing green-driven society and sustainable environmental CSOs in Bosnia and Herzegovina” aims to strengthen environmental governance by building the capacity and empowerment of environmental civil society organizations (ECSOs) and networks to effectively participate in the national and regional agenda for environment as change agents in advocating and influencing environmental policy development and implementation for better natural resource management and environmental protection.
This project not only aims to support environmental civil society organizations with grants and the skills needed to play a pivotal role in BiH in its course toward EU integration 🇪🇺 but also to improve multi-agency networking and dialogue with respective ministries, judiciary, inspectorates, and international networks to strengthen environmental justice and improve the management and effectiveness of the protected areas.
The project will be implemented in the period 2024-2028 and is financed in the amount of 3.8 million KM.
